Eighteenth Bday

Eighteenth Bday

Written by my friend Constance Hayden

After the installer for Home Alarm SYSTEMS came by today and I got the alarm system set up, I had to go to the grocery store and get ready for my son’s birthday party. He was turning eighteen ( gosh I feel old)! We had been planning a little get together with his friends, but I wanted to make sure that the birthday party was not too much of a little boy party ( I have a tendency to do little kid things). We had a fish fry. My husband and the kids had gone fishing last weekend and caught a couple of grouper. I have been cutting, breading, and freezing them all week. I picked up some things at the grocery to make his favorite cake (German chocolate). We played corn hole, had a bonfire, and also had a ping-pong tournament set up. Everyone who came seemed to love the fish and have a great time. The party definitely turned out age appropriate, but it does make me sad that my oldest is really an adult now!

Deliberate Life: The Ultimate Homesteading Guide

oh my, I have spent hours tonight looking for this book online. I heard that this was a great book to use to get prepared in case anything ever happens.

The only thing that I found is that I can not find this book online for less than $120.00 . I did not think it was going to cost that less.

How ever i did hear that it is a great book .. Let me know if you have heard of or read this book .

Always be prepared

I found out the hard way that you always want to be prepared . I found when traveling you want to make sure that you have everyhting that you need including a gps . What would we do without this wonderful item ? We would be lost at least I know that I found be , I am the type of person is is forever getting lost.

Does anyone else feel the same way I do ? I know that there are others out there that are not good at follwoing directions .

Hope you never get lost like I do.

Moving is SO HARD!

Posted by Gaylord Campbell

I had the hardest time moving mostly because I had no idea what I was doing. My mom is a realtor but we don’t really get along because of the way our personalities clash so it sure would have been nice to be able to talk to her about a lot of the stuff I dealt with. I had a great realtor, though, and she helped guide me through the stuff I didn’t know like which site to get my satellite at (wwwDirect.TV) and who to call to mow my lawn on a biweekly basis. The loan stuff was a no brainer because I’ve always been good with numbersbut to be honest, now the biggest challenge on my plate is how to decorate this place! It’s so big and I’ve got no style whatsoever so I’m actually thinking about hiring a decorator to come in and make it look as good as I know it can. I don’t want to screw up this awesome house with the terrible décor I’m sure I would put in!

Winter,Vacations,and the Like

Guest post written by Anita Lipson

My husband Harry and I have done a lot, and I mean a LOT, to keep busy during the winter months. We usually go for walks when it's warmer, so we've supplemented our exercise by going to the gym more often since it's way too frigid to do anything out there in the frozen tundra. We use the machines several nights a week and usually take a group exercise class at least twice a weekÑit's really great! We've also stayed inside and watched a lot of movies. I think we watched more movies this winter than I have in my entire life. But, it's kind of nice for a change.

When spring rolls around, we really want to go on a vacation of some sort. We're definitely still daydreaming and talking about the possibilities. Just talking about everything has been a lot of fun for us. I think half the fun of the vacation is in the anticipation. Next week, we're anticipating some people from sears kitchen remodeling to come and help us do some house work. After that, we decided to book a flight and go somewhere we've always wanted to go. Right now, I'm rooting for Bermuda.

Food storage

I went to the auction yesterday and I started purchasing items that are in season to start ptting up for the up coming winter / fall season .

I started with purple onion a 25 lb. bag , boxes of grrenbeans and last of all we get our eggs there. They are much cheaper and fresher.

As a family of 6 we tend to out thing quickly , I am still learning how much and what to put up.

The onion is just a start I would need a least 3 to 4 to make it though the fall/winter season.

ou will be seeing alot more post about the different item I am getting and how I will be putting them up.

Scroll down through and take a look at the other posts I have on my site.

Gardening Time

Now is the perfect time to start your food staorge . Put in a garden and you can start buy canning the extras you get from your garden or from freinds gardens .

Also watch local papers lots of people will put ads in stating that you can pick and get the extras.

Another great book

Food storage books

Now is the time to prepare !!!

Today  is the day to start preparing just incase something would happen.  I mean anything , there could be snow storms, toroados, and just power grid failures.

What I am trying to say is that you should start putting a few extra items back each week.

On this blog I will be listing great companys that sell prepackaged foods, information, and and tips.
